Fender Musical Instruments Corporation was founded by Leo Fender in 1946. It is one of the most widely recognized manufacturers of guitars, electric basses and amplifiers. The Fender company has been a part of nearly every genre of music and though you will typically see a professional with one of their guitars even a beginner has been known to play Fender guitar. The Stratocaster and Telecaster are two signature models that not only embody the best in the guitar world but could be considered cultural icons as well. The company enjoyed a 'mile-stone' year in 1985 when a group of employees purchased the Fender company back from CBS putting it in the hands of musicians and artisans committed to producing world class guitars. From 1985 to now Fender has been steadily expanding its operations and product line in the US and abroad.
